SecurShred to Continue Destruction of Documents for Federal Agencies

So. Burlinton, VT – April 10, 2006 – The United States Goods and Services Administration (GSA) has awarded Shred This Inc. d.b.a. SecurShred a Federal Supply Schedule contract. This contract, effective February 27, 2006, provides federal agencies in Vermont, New Hampshire, upstate New York and western Massachusetts with secure document destruction services.

SecurShred employees have undergone extensive pre-employment background screening for both federal agencies and its National Association of Information Destruction (NAID) certification. The high level of security offered by SecurShred’s employees, mobile shredding equipment and policies and procedures ensures for the secure destruction of confidential material.

New federal laws such as the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act have mandated that consumer information be disposed of in a secure manner. Other laws such as the Graham Leach Bliley Act and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) had already increased the need for shredding services for government agencies and private companies.

“There is no reason that a stack of customer files containing credit reports should be sitting in a dumpster in Vermont, easily accessible to just about anyone,” said Eric Flegenheimer of SecurShred in So. Burlington “Recent federal and state efforts to protect against identity theft will help protect Vermont companies and consumers.”
